California- os a prime location in the U.S. the fault that is found there is the San Andereas Fault. Many earthquakes have occured here.

What else can you tell us about your boundary that is significant or interesting? Have there been major historical disasters associated with famous examples of your plate boundary? Why
People do happen to live around this boundary. Without warning, a 6.5-magnitude earthquake, considered a "strong" temblor, struck off the shore of California. It was said that, around 28,000 people lost their power. The earthquake ran about 13.5 miles deep. Most of the people weren't seriously injured. About a dozen aftershocks followed this, the strongest being 4.5 magnitude. There were water line breaks, power lines down, and broken windows.
Another one, was the earthquake in Haiti. This one had a magnitude of 7.0. In under two weeks, there were at least 52 aftershocks measuring 4.5 or greater. An estimated three million people were overall affected by this earthquake. About 230,000 people died from this, 300,000 were injured, 1,000,000 ended up homeless. Also, 250,000 houses and 30,000 commercial buildings had collapsed or were at least severely damaged.
